Assistant Country Director - Systems, Uganda



Description
The GOAL Uganda country project focuses on two of GOAL’s three strategic sectors, namely: Health (including WASH, HIV and health accountability programming); and Livelihoods. GOAL Uganda mainstreams HIV, gender, child protection and the environment/DRR across all programming. GOAL works on a district focused approach, and uses a mixture of direct implementation and partnerships with local organisations to give effect to the mission.

General objective:
The Nutritional Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring integration between ACF-USA nutrition programs, as well as liaising with various external partners on nutrition issues for the country. Nutrition refers here as both Nutrition Treatment and Nutrition Surveillance.

General Objectives of the Project
Objective 1: To co-ordinate logistics activities at mission level and provide proper support to programs. This involves supporting and build the capacities of all staffs involved in logistics activities (including planning capacities for program managers), liaising with programs & support services, training new staff, supervising orders, supply, freight, communications, equipment and fleet management, construction, to ensure procedures are applied. Coordination with programs will be given special emphasis.

Technical support to MoES and MGLSD regarding the activities of the Inter Sectoral Committee for Violence Against Children (VAC) in schools - 1 July 2





Violence against Children (VAC) in Uganda is widespread and occurs in almost all settings. A 2005 study in five districts—Apac, Iganga, Kasese, Nakapiripirit and Wakiso—found that 98 percent (n=1,406) of the children (including in and out of school children, aged 8-18 years) interviewed had experienced physical or emotional violence; 76% had experienced sexual violence; and 74% had experienced economic violence, with 24% of the children indicating that the violence occurred at school
